About

I’m Andy Marquis, and I’ve been covering auto racing since 2008.  My career started at Maryland International Raceway thanks to Royce Miller.  At MIR, I got to cover big races such as the US Pro Stock Open, IHRA professional drag racing and Battle of the Imports.  During the IHRA race, I also did coverage for East Coast Drag News.  In April 2008, I got a gig covering ARCA and drag racing for RacingForTheWin.com which took me to my first major stock car race as a writer, the 2008 Loud Energy Drink 150 at New Jersey Motorsports Park.  During my first season, I interviewed a number of drivers including: Scott Speed, Justin Allgaier, Alli Owens, Bunny Burkett, Greg Stanfield, Alan Johnson (NHRA PS driver), Johnny Rocca and many others.

I did not return to MIR in 2009.  While I love drag racing and appreciate Royce Miller for giving me a start, it was time to move on to my comfort zone — stock car racing.  Before losing my primary job, I covered just about the entire season at Potomac Speedway as well as covering the ARCA race at Rockingham in April 2009.  I also covered races at Langley Speedway and Old Dominion Speedway in 2009.

A 2010 move to Baltimore, and the unofficial shutdown of RacingForTheWin.com sidelined me for much of the 2010 season.  It wasn’t until the final race at Old Dominion Speedway that I got back in to motorsports writing.  After a successful Big One at Old Dominion Speedway, I will be covering races at Old Dominion Speedway in 2011 for Race22.com!  I decided to start a blog for the fun of it (and maybe I’ll get press credentials to the Baltimore Grand Prix).  This blog will be used for additional coverage and commentary.
